At Castledon School the National Curriculum for Mathematics is delivered at a pace and level suited to needs of each individual.
A bespoke curriculum ensures that every pupil is allowed to meet their potential.
Mathematics should be fun and so the combination of practical activities, investigations and games presented along with access to a rich bank of exciting resources means everyone really looks forward to their lessons! Additionally a regular opportunity to participate in outdoor learning enables our students to engage in mathematics in the environment as well as work on concepts on a larger scale. Concrete apparatus supports understanding and helps make links in learning. With this in mind we have introduced the Numicon approach and have seen pupils make rapid progress as a result.
An emphasis is also placed on real life mathematics embracing our motto ‘Learn to Live’ and ensuring students can apply the skills they have learnt in their day to day lives.
